Every person engaging in the town in any business, trade, profession, or occupation, unless exempted by law, shall apply for a license for business if
(A) such person maintains a definite place of business in the town, (B) maintains a building in town, which shall be deemed a definite place of business, or
(C) operates amusement machines, or is engaged as a peddler, itinerant merchant, a contractor, or is a public service corporation subject to the Code of Virginia.

- How does one apply for a business license?
First, if you are new to the area, please contact our Town Planner to ensure that the business you wish to operate meets all of the Town's zoning codes and requirements.
Then, you may come to the Town Office located at 9418 John Sevier Rd., or call 540-740-3432 to request a business license application. If you need assistance completing the form, we will be happy to assist you.

- What is the deadline for renewing a business license?
Renewal applications are mailed out the first part of January and are due by March 1. After March 1, a 10% penalty is assessed.
