The Town of New Market would like to let the citizens know more about the Road Improvement Project that is being completed by VDOT and Slurry Pavers.Inc. The process that is being used is called Cape Seal. A Cape Seal corrects surface issues and provides a smooth, durable riding surface.
You may have noticed the roads where they have been patched. This was a preparatory step. The actual Cape Seal process is a two-step process involving a chip seal followed by a slurry seal. The work is scheduled to begin Thursday, May 31st, and working hours between 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.
The chip seal work is to be completed in 7 to 10 days, weather permitting and the slurry seal will be applied 2-3 weeks later.
Although this process is a long one, it is the recommended process for fixing our roads. We appreciate your patience and understanding.
