We encourage you to stay home if you are showing ANY signs or symptoms of COVID-19. 


Community Easter Egg Hunt

 Saturday, March 27th, 2021 at 9:00 a.m.

Come to the New Market Community Park for our annual Easter Egg Hunt! Lots of eggs filled with goodies to find, and meet the Easter Bunny! We will also have take home crafts too. (while supplies last) 

The hunt will start at 9:30 a.m., so you will want to arrive early to get in starting positions. Please make sure to bring your own basket for collecting eggs. This event is for ages 1-10.

Celebration of Arbor Day & Earth Day

Saturday, April 24th, 2021 from 1:00 p.m.-3:00 p.m.

Our first ever combined Arbor Day & Earth Day celebration, and we are excited! This event will be a hybrid event, so folks can do some of the fun activities from home. The in-person event will be held in the New Market Community Park where we will have a fun scavenger hunt, activities, giveaways, tree planting and more. The online portion will include the scavenger hunt, at home activities, fun interactive & informational videos for kids and adults. This event is free!

Open Market


(1st Saturday of each month)

The Open Market showcases different types of vendors from crafts, pottery, homemade treats, along with direct sales businesses. There are other attractions such as activities for kids, contests to win prizes. This event is held the 1st Saturday of each month from 9:00 a.m-2:00 p.m.

The Open Market is hosted by the New Market Chamber of Commerce and is located in the Suntrust parking lot on South Congress Street. If you would like to be a vendor, please call 540-740-3212 or email

Battle of New Market Reenactment

The Battle of New Market Reenactment is a unique historical experience taking place on the original 1864 battlefield. It is the site of the oldest annual battle reenactment in the nation.  All events are at the Virginia Museum of the Civil War and New Market Battlefield State Historical Park unless otherwise indicated. Jammin’ Foods Fest- DUE to weather forecast this event is being rescheduled

Saturday, May 29th, 2021 from 4:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m. 

New Market’s annual food truck fest is held in the New Market Community Park. There will be a selection of food trucks, live music, vendors, fun things for the kids to do. Admission is FREE. There is over flow parking at the New Market Fire Department.  Bring chair/blankets for comfort. Pets allowed on leashes only and not in the food truck area.

Movie Nights in the Park 2021


Come to the New Market Community Park to enjoy a FREE movie in the park with family and friends! For your viewing comfort, we encourage you to bring chairs and/or blankets. Feel free to bring snacks and drinks (no alcoholic beverages allowed). All movies will begin at sundown.

Cross Roads Music Fest 2021

The Town of New Market presents its 7th annual Summer Music Series: Cross Roads Fest. This event will be held at Rebel Park on selected dates from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.  Admission is FREE!  Food and drink available for purchase. Bring a blanket or a chair and enjoy an evening of local music, food and brews. Stay updated by following our Facebook page or our website page

Independence Day Celebration

Monday, July 5th from 5:00 p.m.-9:30 p.m.

The New Market Fireworks Committee brings a fun community celebration to the New Market Community Park to celebrate Independence Day. The celebration activities start at 5:00 p.m. with a fireworks display showing around 9:20 p.m. Mark your calendars and come visit with your family, friends and neighbors. Bring chairs or blankets to enjoy the evening. (NO PETS ALLOWED)

National Night Out

Tuesday, August 3rd from 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m.

The New Market Police Department is excited to be hosting their annual National Night Out event on August 3rd in the New Market Community Park! Join them in the park for a fun evening of activities/games, free hot dogs/chips/drinks and cotton candy, along with face painting, resource tables and more! Admission is FREE.


Annual Rt. 11 Yard Crawl

Saturday, August 14th starts at 7:00 a.m.

Shop till you drop at 40 miles of yard sales and business sales along The Old Valley Pike. This is a rain or shine event.

Summer’s End Pup Pool Party

Sunday, September 12th from 1:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m.

A day to celebrate your furry loved one! Bring your dog to socialize and play in the New Market Community Pool from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.  Cost is $3.00 per dog. Registration is highly recommended. New Market Fire & Rescue Department Fall Fling

Saturday, September 18th, 2021

Join the New Market Fire and Rescue for the 16th year of sponsoring the Fall Fling. The event will be held at the New Market Fire & Rescue     located on 9771 Congress St. New Market, VA. There will be approximately $100,000.00 in prizes raffled off every 10 minutes starting from 11:00 a.m. (Over 60 prizes!) At 5:00 p.m. a name will be drawn for the Grand Prize.

New Market Fall Festival

Come to New Market Chamber of Commerce’s Heritage Day Celebration located in historic Downtown New Market! Come enjoy treasures crafted by local vendors, taste local food, and sing along and dance to local musicians! A fun day for all ages! Trick or Treat on Congress Street

Saturday, October 30th, from 5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m.

The New Market Merchants Committee and the Town of New Market will be hosting their annual Trick or Treat on Congress Street. Visit various downtown businesses who have left their light on for trick or treaters and you will leave with a special treat!  While collecting candy, be sure to browse our stores for upcoming holiday gifts. Come on out and have a spooky safe time in the New Market downtown businesses!


‘Tis the Season Holiday Celebration

Saturday, December 4th (ALL DAY fun)

Jingle Bells, jingle Bells, jingle all the way to downtown to join in the festivities. There will be open houses, sales, artisan vendors at the Open Market, music and more starting at 10:00 a.m.


Flashlight Candy Cane Hunt 

Saturday, December 11th, 2021 from 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m.

Join us for the hunt of candy canes and other goodies that are hidden in the park! Children ages 1 to 14 are invited to participate in a Flashlight Candy Cane hunt in the New Market Community Park. There will be designated areas per age group, and special prizes to be found. Come bundled up to brave the cold, and come prepared with a flashlight to see in the dark! There will be music, and other fun activities to participate in as well.

Registration IS REQUIRED and LIMITED spots available. Registration will be in November.
