Adding A Water Only Meter

Watering meters are available at a property owner’s request. This is often a good option for customers who frequently water lawns, gardens, landscaping, or wash cars regularly. Sewer charges are not incurred when a customer uses water obtained from their water-only meter. Those interested must come to the Town Office and complete a service request to create a water only account at their location. The cost of the setup and meter is $785.97, which is payable at the time of request.

It is the responsibility of a plumber to install the meter, however, the Town must conduct an inspection before the water connection is closed. It is the responsibility of the property owner to notify the Town if service to this meter is to be disconnected (i.e. during winter months) or reconnected. If the customer disconnects service for a period of time, such as during the winter, a $15.00 reconnect fee will be charged when the account is reactivated. Customers with watering meters are billed monthly for this service. The water meter will be read at the same time of the month as the customer’s regular meter. Rates are as follows:

In Town

• First 1,700 gallons     $18.55 (minimum charge)
• Over 1,700 gallons     $7.63, plus $4.58 per 1,000 gallons over 1,700

Out-of-Town

• First 1,700 gallons     $27.83 (minimum charge)
• Over 1,700 gallons     $11.45, plus $8.01 per 1,000 gallons over 1,700
