Board of Zoning Appeals Member

There is currently an opening on the Town of New Market’s Board of Zoning Appeals.

The Board of Zoning Appeals is a five member board that is appointed by the Shenandoah County Circuit Court. 

• The Board is tasked with hearing and deciding appeals from decisions made by the Zoning Administrator, and requests for the relaxing of the requirements of the Zoning Ordinance. 
• All appeals presented to the Board are on a case by case basis and every request for a variance needs to meet standards set forth in the Zoning Ordinance and Code of Virginia. 
• The Board has no set meeting schedule, rather meeting as needed.  

Interested applicants may obtain a Volunteer application below. Applications may also be picked up at the Town Office.
